Welcome back after the Bank Holiday break – it definitely feels as if the weather is beginning to warm up at last!
Our thoughts are with Year 6 this week as they prepare for their statutory assessments (previously called SATs) next week. All the children and the teachers/teaching assistants have worked incredibly hard and our thoughts and prayers are with them all at this time.
Thanks go to the PTA for another successful school disco and to you all for supporting it; we are currently fundraising towards rejuvenating our somewhat aged playground. Our school council are enthusiastically finding out what their classmates would like the playground to look like. The next PTA meeting is due to be held on 5th May at 2pm in the school mobile, new members are always welcome.
Today children from the tag rugby club are playing in a WOKSA tournament, we wish them every success.
This Thursday, 5th May, Year 3 are visiting the Living Land Show at Maidstone. The coach will be leaving school at 8am and returning at 3.30pm, so alarm clocks will need to be set a little earlier on that day!
All orders and payment for school photos must be returned to the office by Friday 6th May please.
Next week, 9th May Year 3 and 4 parents are invited to attend our act of worship in the church at 9.10am. Tea or coffee will be provided before the service begins.
Year R will be holding their class assembly on Friday 13th May at 2.40pm, entrance is via the school office.
Year 6 will be having their Bikeability training from 16th to 20th May; please can you return forms and payment as soon as possible so that they can confirm numbers. If your child requires a bike for this training, please let Mrs Hollis know.
On 17th May, Year 5 have been invited on a free educational visit to Sissinghurst Castle Garden National Trust. This is a wonderful opportunity to visit this world renowned historic venue. Please ensure all permission slips are returned to the office.
We are delighted to announce that Chloe Fuller in Year 1 has won a prize for a ‘Whatever the Weather’ picture that she painted. She came 2nd throughout the region and, not only does she get a prize, but the school gets a £200 prize too – well done Chloe! An official presentation will be taking place on 18th May.
The dance club are performing in front of the whole school and parents/carers on 19th May at 2.40pm.
Don’t forget school breaks up on 27th May and returns on Monday 6th June, apart from Year 6 who will be on their residential that week at Bewl Water – fingers crossed for the weather!
Year 3 will be starting gymnastics after half term, please check school bags for information.
The whole school is taking part in ‘Race for Life’ on 17th June; this will be a fun sporting event for a very good cause – more details to follow later.
